I'm having flashbacks to General's league where I had 3 10-10-10 SPs and two of them constantly had 4+ ERAs
fwiw, I've tested this a bit, and this hasn't been the case. Basically each team gets another top end spec, and a useful vet and the league totals haven't moved much. Spot testing has the aces still doing as well as before.

so, once I know which GMs are taking 2 teams, and which rosters they want, I can move on to the next step, which will be some combination of dispersal draft and sending players to FA.

Part of me wants to send everything to FA though so I can see a highly rated spec get 20MM and then die.

An eyeball assessment indicates that we are low on relievers and catchers in the league. I believe this showed most after expansion. Maybe we keep a few extra of those positions in the FA pool. Just a thought.

What about any trades involving picks for teams being removed? Not sure if there are any

There won't be - I made sure of that. Part of why I contracted who and what I did to an extent. Colorado is one of those, but that whole team is being moved, so the name just changes.

I'm currently going through the open team rosters and neutering some of the computer generated "no-names" to make sure things don't get too out of hand.

Could I coerce any of the 2nd team GMs to take the Nationals roster? Hell, any of the main teams who like their franchise, but don't like their roster.

If the Dodgers' pitching staff wasn't decent, I would be all over the Nats' roster, because our offense sucks and I'm tired of waiting on my prospects to grow some balls in AA.

I don't know which specific franchises everyone will end up with, but I can say which rosters:
@dgfred - Phillies
@realmofotalk - Astros
@HollywoodLeo - Rangers
@OrioleMagic - Mets
@jussSAYIN - Diamondbacks
@cbenoit108 - Rockies

As such, I'd like you 6 to message me your ranking of the 6 open team rosters. The hope is things line up enough everyone gets a top half choice. The rosters you need to rank are as follows:
Blue Jays
Braves
Mariners
Marlins
Nationals
Rays

One said they'd get it to me today, the other seems indifferent, so he'll likely get the lowest one of the bunch.

so, slight update for those I haven't messaged.

Trendy will be taking the Rays roster as a start and Leo will be on the sideline. This came about since no teams are being broken up, just merged.

I've already asked for an updated ranking from folks, including Trendy, so I don't think we're too far away now.

Just so it's clear, when I say you're inheriting a team in a merge, I mean the whole team - including the bad contracts. That's part of the trade off of getting more talent.
