I'm not going to be the type to defend WWE releases, but I swear they can release some random janitor and the internet would flip their shit like they're letting great talent go and then ask when that janitor is going to sign with AEW.

Eh, ish? He'll only be healthy half the year. Wonder if he plans on still wrestling full time. That said, even half a year, with the roster AEW has, that could work.
I mean more for like a training aspect. You can use Joe on screen for like 6 months... but him and Regal teaching these schmucks how to work an actual match? Sign him up.

Booker T feels an AEW wrestler coming through the "Forbidden Door" to take part in the WWE Royal Rumble match may not be a good idea at the moment. He feels there is a possibility that even a legend and fan-favorite like Chris Jericho may get a negative reaction from the fanbase.

That'd be a good idea regardless of reaction. You want a reaction and it could be what would happen if DX showed up on Nitro.

any shock gets a surprise pop. if it was jericho... moxley would be even bigger... it would be a huge pop. i actually rather like the moose rumor, let moose get a nice little 20 minute run in the rumble, then let him go have a 12 minute main event on smackdown and lose to roman clean. if theyre gonna open it, thats what it should be used for.

I know it's not AEW, but isn't Mickie James confirmed for the Rumble, even though she's with TNA? I'm pretty sure she's not getting a negative reaction, either.

They'll likely drop the "Stark" part.

There was some Nazi U-Boat commander named Gunther Stark and everyone's already shitting on them before they even revealed that it was for WALTER. (It was released that they applied for the trademark)

I didn't watch NXT yet, though. Did they announce the last name or just "Gunther"?

I doubt we ever hear the name "Gunther Stark" on WWE television after all the backlash when the trademark application was leaked, which is fine.

But people are seriously out there acting like Vince consciously thought it was a great idea to name him after a Nazi, as opposed to just coming up with a random German sounding name and his only dumb fault being not knowing how to use Google. (Which is still dumb, but not quite the same charge)

And of course, the real motivation here is simply that he wants control of the name should he gain any degree of popularity in WWE. Unfortunately for him, I think the name "WALTER" would still work just fine for him should they future endeavor him.

didn't watch i just read results honestly.
This speaks so much to the state of NXT (and probably American wrestling in general) right now. 'I didn't watch but read the results' and saw there was a WALTER vs. Roderick Strong match, and you *still* didn't bother.

The name change is dumb, but it's hardly the most confusing thing they did in the last month.
