  • Why do you hate Phil Collins for turning Genesis to mainstream pop when Peter Gabriel's own solo career found success in, you know, mainstream pop?

I guess I should learn my own software...I moved it all to one thread.

I'm okay to be on the otherside of Bateman - I disagree with his assessment.

To be fair, Gabriel's pop wasn't the same as Collins. In modern terms, Collins was like straight ahead pop, while Gabriel was more like adult contemporary in a way? Or Collins was almost bublegum.

But, if Collins had left to do his thing (instead of or in addition), we wouldn't hate him. If Gabriel had made the change, we'd hate him. If the band wanted to make a full change, not quite unlike Chicago (different circumstances) we'd hate them all. It's one thing to change the band in your image, it's another to leave and do your own thing letting the band control its own path, in theory.

Although I've read within the last year that the band all kind of wanted to go down that path, so, eh.

Adult contemporary to me is soft rock. Phil is soft rock, I don't consider him in the bubblegum pop class as Britney and Kelly Clarkson, but I suppose you could argue the difference is just a generation gap.

Phil's 90s stuff was definitely soft rock no doubt. But his 80's stuff, and Genesis' 80's stuff was pretty much straight ahead pop (not In The Air Tonight though, but that was...81? So time changes). The funny thing is, I like more than a few songs of Phil's 80's solo work. Air, Two Hearts, Missed Again, Easy Lover are all songs I love.

I'd say part his style part generation gap, but now I want to dive into it some more.
I messaged both of them yesterday. One said he’d look at it today.

I got a new computer at work last week and the site works now. Not sure if IT will block it at some point again after looking at search history or something.
I feel like it's too late now. I wanted it done by last weekend, you ignored. I posted numbers, you ignored them.
Hill was suspended for 10 games, so Baltimore cut him right before the news came out.

Adams got a tryout with two teams, never signed a contract, and went to the CFL.
Will Hill SFA eligibility check? Didn't play last year, was released in March of 2016.

Also, confirming Vernon Adams (no NFL contract, ever) is not viable.
Yeah, that's fine. No guarantee they'll be any interest in Gary if he puts up another dud game, though. But it's cool.
